Nicole Kidman has opened about age discrimination in the film industry, saying that women over forty are considered too old.
Speaking to Dujour magazine this week, the 54-year-old actress blasted Hollywood’s obsession with younger women, saying: “There’s a consensus in the industry that as a female actor, at about 40, you’re done,”
Kidman added that she has had a number of her own projects turned down because of her age.
“I never sat in a chair and heard someone say, ‘You’re past your due date’. But I’ve had times where you’re turned down and the door is shut on you. It’s definitely changing and moving,” she said.
Kidman is currently promoting her new movie Being The Ricardos. The film follows the relationship between I Love Lucy stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
Being The Ricardos is available to watch in cinemas now. Check out the official trailer below.
