Boxer Jermall Charlo Arrested On Felony Assault Charge

Middleweight boxer Jermall Charlo was arrested on Friday over an alleged assault.

Authorities informed TMZ that Charlo was brought into custody in Texas after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant allegedly relates to an incident on September 21, when Charlo is accused of “punching or grabbing” an unnamed individual.

Records reportedly show that Charlo was arrested on a felony count of assaulting a household member.

His bond has been set at $10,000, though he remained in custody as of Friday evening.

The 31-year-old boxing champion has defended his WBC middleweight title four times. He was in the running to fight Mexican champion Canelo Alvarez later this Spring, however recent reports suggest that Dmitry Bivol is the more likely opponent.

Charlo was also arrested back in August on three counts of robbery, though those charges were dismissed earlier this month.
