BTS Singer V Tests Positive For COVID-19

BTS member V has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, is the fifth member of the globally famous K-pop group to contract the virus in the last few months.

According to a statement released by Big Hit Music (via Soompi), V was taken to hospital on Tuesday after suffering a mild sore throat. A PCR test later returned positive for COVID-19.

Confirming that V was fully vaccinated, the statement said that V was undergoing treatment at home and was “not presenting any extraordinary symptoms other than a mild fever and sore throat”.

“There was contact with the other members on Saturday the 12th, but everyone was wearing a mask, and there was no close contact.” The statement continued, “None of the BTS members other than V are presenting any symptoms, and everyone received negative results from the preemptive self-tests.”

“The company places the artists’ health as our top priority and we will do everything we can to aid V in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the health care authorities.”

V’s positive test comes weeks after fellow BTS member Jimin also tested positive whilst in hospital with acute appendicitis. Other members to contract the virus include RM, Suga and Jin.

BTS are currently enjoying their second break from performing since 2019.
