Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne and Emily Beecham are to star in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Slingshot.
Already announced cast members include Tomer Capone and David Morrissey.
According to Deadline, Mikael Hafstrom is helming the new project, which follows an astronaut as he struggles to maintain his grip on reality after a mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan.
R. Scott Adams and Nathan Parker are penning the script, with Richard Saperstein producing for Bluestone Entertainment.
Affleck was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in 2007. He was won multiple awards, including a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Academy Award, for his starring role in Manchester by the Sea in 2016.
Fishburne is best known for his portrayal of Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy. His other prominent roles include The Bowery King in the John Wick franchise, Tyrone Miller in Apocalypse Now, and Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It. He also enjoyed a starring role in NBC’s Hannibal.
Beecham gained recognition for her starring role in Daphne, which earned her multiple award nominations. She also enjoyed notable roles in Hail, Caesar!, Berlin, I Love You, Little Joe and Cruella.
Production on Slingshot is scheduled to begin on December 1.
