Chevy Chase Says He “Doesn’t Care” If Co-Stars Think He’s A “Jerk”

Chevy Chase has dismissed claims from his former co-stars that he was difficult to work with on set.

The 78-year-old has faced numerous accusations from colleagues on sets like Saturday Night Live and Community, with comedian Pete Davidson stating in a SiriusXM interview: “F*** Chevy Chase. He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him.”

Asked during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning whether his former co-stars comments that he was a “jerk” hurt him, Chase replied: “I guess you’d have to ask them. I don’t give a crap!”

“I am who I am. And I like who I am. I don’t care. And it’s part of me that I don’t care. And I’ve thought about that a lot. And I don’t know what to tell you, man. I just don’t care.”

The National Lampoon actor was also accused of racism back in March of 2018. In a profile by The New Yorker, it was claimed that Chase often sought to disrupt scenes by his Community co-star Donald Glover, and would make racial cracks between takes.

In another controversial instance, Chase reportedly used the N-word numerous times during an argument with Community creator Dan Harmon.

Though he did not use the racial slur in reference to his black castmates Glover or Yvette Nicole Brown, his comments upset colleagues and he was required to apologise before leaving the show in 2012.

He returned for a brief season five cameo appearance.
