Former Raiders Coach Jon Gruden Sues NFL And Roger Goodell

Former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell following his departure from the team.

According to a court filing obtained by ESPN, Gruden is accusing the defendants of “selectively leaking” his emails in order to force him out of his job.

“There is no explanation or justification for why Gruden’s emails were the only ones made public out of the 650,000 emails collected in the NFL’s investigation of the Washington Football Team,” added the filing. “Or for why the emails were held for months before being released in the middle of the Raiders‘ season.”

Gruden left his position following the exposure of emails judged to be racist, homophobic, and misogynistic in nature. Specifically, he was accused of using a racial slur against NFL executive DeMaurice Smith.

The filing added that Gruden had been “intimidated” by the release of further emails and had lost all future career prospects as a result of the leak.
