James Harden Completes Switch To Philadelphia 76ers

James Harden has completed his switch to Philadelphia 76ers, in a trade deal that involves four other players.

Harden will be joined Paul Millsap in moving to Philadelphia, while Brooklyn Nets acquire Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, Seth Curry, and two first-round draft picks.

It was previously reported by ESPN that Harden wanted the move, but was reluctant to formally request due to a potential public backlash.

Philadelphia were equally eager to find a solution for want-away star Simmons, who asked to be traded following their loss to the Atalanta Hawks in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last season.

In order to accommodate for the blockbuster deal, the Nets announced that they are waiving DeAndre’ Bembry to make room on their roster.

Harden spent just a year with Nets, after he moved there last season following a lengthy stint with the Houston Rockets.

The 32-year-old was named to the 2022 NBA All-Star Game for a tenth time this year.

James Harden is one of the truly elite players in the league,” said Philadelphia 76ers Managing Partner Josh Harris.

“His career has been defined by incredible personal achievement, including honors as NBA MVP and three-time NBA scoring champion.”

Philadelphia welcome Oklahoma City Thunder on February 11 for their next game, while the Nets face Miami Heat on February 12.
