Joel Kinnaman is to star in a new no-dialogue action film, Silent Night.
According to Deadline, the picture will be directed by acclaimed Hong Kong director, John Woo.
Additional casting is currently underway, with Kinnaman set to play an ordinary father who ventures into the underworld to avenge his son’s death. Though the film will reportedly include no dialogue, it will not be entirely silent.
Capstone is reportedly in talks to finance the film with Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christian Mercuri, and Lori Tilkin on board to produce.
Silent Night will mark Woo’s first Hollywood film since 2003’s Paycheck starring Ben Affleck. His other American titles include Broken Arrow, Face/Off and Mission: Impossible II.
Joel Kinnaman recently reprised the role of Rick Flag in DC’s The Suicide Squad. He has enjoyed other notable performances in House of Cards, For All Man Kind and RoboCop.
