JoJo Siwa has admitted that she and her ex-girlfriend, Kylie Prew, “aren’t as close” as they used to be.
In conversation with People at the American Music Awards, Siwa explained what it felt like to be a single after recently splitting from her partner for nine months.
“Those nine months were amazing and incredible,” she said. “And obviously I’ve talked about [it], we broke up. And one thing that I’m grateful for is that we’re both okay.”
“We obviously aren’t as close as we used to be, but we’re both okay. And we’re both happy, and that’s all that matters.”
The 18-year-old YouTuber, with over 12.2 million subscribers, revealed her relationship with Prew after coming out in January. She has previously said that the pair remain close friends and that their break-up was the definition of “right person, wrong time”.
Siwa is currently a finalist on Dancing with the Stars. Her partnership with Jenna Johnson marks the first-same sex pairing to compete on the show.
