The Hollywood Reporter has named Matthew McConaughey Philanthropist Of The Year.
This comes after the Oscar-winning star has made over seventeen transformative contributions to charities all over the world – all whilst running his own charity Just Keep Livin.
It is reported that McConaughey and wife Camila, started actively running the charity in 2008.
“The program focusing on fitness, mental health, teamwork and community service boasts a rather stunning success rate with the mission to empower high school students by providing them with the tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future.”
The origin of its title was inspired by the actor’s loss of his father in 1992 – and has since become McConaughey’s catchphrase since his performance in Dazed and Confused.
You can watch McConaughey say the catchphrase in the segment below from Movieclips:
Just recently the celebrity has taken to Instagram to promote the release of his upcoming journal GreenLights, writing in a caption:
“tune into the future, its coming #greenlightsjournal pre-order at greenlights.com #greenlightsbook”
