Paramount Pictures confirms that a sequel to Clifford the Big Red Dog is in development.
The first film made its debuted theatrically and on Paramount+ on November 10. Based on Norman Bridwell’s 1963 book series, Clifford the Big Red Dog follows Emily Elizabeth Howard, a schoolgirl whose love for her little red puppy causes him to grow to an enormous size.
Walt Becker directed the original film, written by Jay Scherick, David Ronn, and Blaise Hemingway. Jordan Kerner and Lole Lucchese were attached to produce.
Variety reports that the picture has so far grossed $34 million at the domestic box office, and has risen to become the most-watched film on Paramount+.
Details on the sequel are under wraps, though there are likely hopes to reunite original castmates Jack Whitehall and Darby Camp.
Clifford the Big Red Dog is currently available in cinemas and Paramount+.
