Petition Made To Keep James Cordon Away From ‘Wicked’

A petition on Change.org has garnered over seventy thousand signatures, asking Universal Studios to keep James Cordon away from Wicked movie.

The petition, created by fan Mikel Miller, states that “James Corden in no way shape or form should be in or near the production of Wicked the movie.”

“The movie version of the hugely successful musical has been in the works since 2004, and Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu will be helming the eagerly-awaited project,” as reported by the Mirror.

Just recently the likes of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were cast in the musical – proving to be popular with fans.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to express their distaste towards the idea of Cordon starring in the film.

This comes after Cordon’s notorious acting-spell in the on-screen musical world.

The actor has faced considerable backlash for his acting skills, particularly for his role in Cats. Cordon even refused to watch the film himself in a confession to Vanity Fair at the time of its release.

At the time of writing, the petition has reached 76k signatures.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production of the musical “has now been pushed to June [2022], and it will relocate to the U.K”
