Ryan Seacrest has opened up about his health scare last year and talked about the changes he has had to make to his work-life balance.
In May 2020, many fans expressed concern after the 46-year-old TV presenter’s eye looked significantly swollen and his speech became slightly slurred during an episode of American Idol.
A representative for Seacrest later confirmed that the presenter was in fact okay and that doctors had recommended he spend some time away from work to rest.
Now, in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Seacrest has opened up about the televised incident and talked about the impact its had on his career.
“To say no to things is difficult. You want to say yes. When I say no to something, I feel guilt in terms of an obligation,” the presenter said, after doctors told him he had to do less.
“It’s personal. But I definitely knew that I needed to slow down….I just had burnt myself out. I was absolutely beat and fatigued and just wasn’t letting myself accept that. Now I do,” he added.
