Virgil Abloh Has Passed Away Aged 41

Fashion legend Virgil Abloh has passed away at the age of forty one, after battling a rare form of cancer in secret in years.

Abloh was the creative director of Louis Vuitton and also owned the popular streetwear brand, Off-White.

Revealing the news, the French fashion house’s parent company LVMH described Abloh as a “genius” and a “visionary”.

Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, said “We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer and a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom.”

“The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow and we are all thinking of his loved ones on the passing of their husband, father, brother, son and friend.”

Condolences have flooded in for the fashion world and beyond since we learnt of the devastating news.

Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri called him “a brilliant designer who has paved the way for many young creatives”.

Donatella Versace called him “an innovator. A creator for the history books” and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli wrote that Abloh “changed the game of fashion with his disruptive humanity and curiosity”.

His kindness and energetic generosity left a lasting impression on every life he touched,” Gigi Hadid said in a heartfelt post. “He made everyone feel seen and special.”
