I’m a hairdresser and here’s why you should ALWAYS wear heat protection – you won’t believe the damage it’s doing

A TEAM of hairdressers have revealed just how important it is to use heat protection on your hair – the difference it makes is unbelievable.

Headquarters hairdressing salon, based in Surrey, shared a quick experiment they did to prove what a difference heat protectant spray makes when you’re straightening your hair.

They shared a clip showing a piece of paper, half covered in a GHD heat protectant spray, and the other half without anything to protect it.

After running a hair straightener over the paper, the half without the heat protectant was burned to a dark brown colour, while the protected half was still largely white in colour.

They captioned the video: “When your hairdresser won’t stop nagging you about heat protection.”

The salon even posted a follow up video showing the entire process, to prove the results were real.

The clip racked up a million views and commenters couldn’t believe the difference.

Some were even convinced to protect their hair against heat styling for the first time ever.

“I’ve always thought heat protection was some sort of scam to make people spend more money, now this video has changed my mind”, wrote one shocked viewer.

Another added: “So it’s not a scam??”

One wrote: “My hairdresser put some on a piece of bread and put it in the toaster. One side came out toasted, one side came out white. I was shocked.”

“You reminded me I need to buy some more”, wrote another viewer.
