Every year, I end up with at least a few items I need to gift wrap that are oddly shaped, or I don’t want to wrap in the box it came in (maybe so I can fit it in a stocking, for example).
Other than using a store-bought gift bag, I thought I’d give you three tips for using gift wrap to dress up these kinds of presents in style.
In this post, we are working with Walmart. I got all of these gifts there, along with everything I needed for the gift wrap. I love the variety of options, making it easy to find things for anyone on your list.
And I love the convenience (whether shopping in person or online) of being able to get gifts as well as gift wrap and other random items you may be needing or even grocery shopping for. It’s super convenient.
Here are all the different-shaped gifts I was working with. Such a variety! The cooler is really cute, plus functional if you like boat days, camping, or other outdoor adventures.
The headphones and massager are a cool gift for partners or other hard-to-shop-for family members.
I love the idea of this air purifier—I could see this being a great gift for a mother or MIL as well. And the jade roller set and makeup brushes make a great stocking stuffer for friends or YOURSELF. Lol.
You can shop each item below:
Tip One: Cylinder Fold
This works well for anything that is cylinder shaped. Simply roll the gift in wrapping like a Tootsie Roll, then fold down the top and bottom like a fan. Cut out a circle of the same gift wrapping and tape to the top and bottom and you’re done. Easy!
Tip Two: Gift Bag Fold
This works well for gifts that are round or other odd shapes (anything really). The idea is that you are making a gift bag from wrapping paper.
Use a long rectangle piece of wrapping paper for this—long enough that once folded in the center the gift could fit inside.
Then, fold the bottom like a paper bag (like from the grocery store).
Once the gift is inside, fold the top closure like an envelope and add a bow or gift tag. Another option is to leave the top closure open and fill with tissue paper.
Tip Three: Envelope Fold
This is best for items that are flat, like the makeup brush set I had.
Use a square or rectangle of paper, and turn sideways. Then, fold in like a envelope (see the images above). Then you can add a bow or gift tag.
I added ribbon and faux evergreen sprigs to these gifts just to give them something a little extra. Happy gift wrapping season! xo. Emma
