Police have recovered the body of a farmer from a fish pond in Monirampur upazila of Jessore. The body was recovered from Panchakari area of the upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The farmer’s name is Bholanath Biswas (7). His home is in Panchakari village of Nehalpur union of the upazila. While retrieving the body from the enclosure, Bholanath had a net tied around his waist and legs.
According to the family of the deceased, Bholanath went to his fish pond near his house on Monday morning. He has not returned home since. Despite many searches, no trace of him was found yesterday. Then this morning he was searched by pulling the rope around the fish. His body was recovered around 12:30 pm.
Bholanath’s son Parimal Biswas said that after the body was recovered, it was found that his father had a long net tied around his waist and right leg. There were three bricks at the other end of the net tied at the waist and two bricks with the mesh tied at the legs. His father had been frustrated for some time because of the siege business. Because of this he thinks that his father may commit suicide.
Monirampur police inspector (investigation) Gazi said. Mahbubur Rahman said, whether it is murder or suicide, it cannot be said at this moment. The matter will be known after receiving the autopsy report. The body of the deceased is being sent to the morgue of the 250-bed General Hospital in Jessore for autopsy.
