THERE was a double dose of great holiday news yesterday.

Pre-departure and Day Two tests for the UK have been dropped, while Spain has lifted its ban on kids over 12 who had not had two jabs.

With 800,000 of us due to jet off this half-term, it is now cheaper and easier to get away. Sun Head of Travel LISA MINOT unpicks some of the hoops we must still jump through for our favourite destinations.

Cyprus

YOU must show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure or lateral flow taken within 24 hours. On arrival, over-12s do a PCR test at the airport (15-19 euros) and isolate until the result arrives, usually three hours. If not boostered, 72 hours after arrival in Cyprus you must do a rapid test at a government mobile unit and email the result. It is free if you present your boarding card.

Turkey

If not fully vaccinated, or aged 12-18, you need proof of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours pre-entry or lateral flow 48 hours before arriving in Turkey

FULLY vaccinated and under-11s can enter without a test from 14 days after a second vaccine dose. If not fully vaccinated, or aged 12-18, you need proof of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours pre-entry or lateral flow 48 hours before. If you have proof of recovery from Covid within six months you need not take a test. Anyone over six must complete an entry form 72 hours before travelling to Turkey.

Greece

TRAVELLERS must prove they are fully vaccinated to enter without a test. If not boostered, your second dose must have been given at least 14 days before and not more than nine months ago unless you can show a certificate of recovery from Covid. Not vaccinated? You must show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel to Greece or lateral flow test within 24 hours.

Italy

FULLY vaccinated adults must show a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival in Italy or lateral flow taken within 48 hours. If your second jab was more than 180 days ago, you need to be boostered or show proof of recovery from Covid in the previous 180 days. Under-18s travelling with fully vaccinated parents must show a negative PCR or lateral flow test, except under-fives.

France

FRANCE has scrapped its requirement for vaccinated adults to show proof of a negative PCR or lateral flow test taken within 48 hours or departure. Vaccinated Brits can enter without needing to take any tests. If your last dose was more than 270 days ago, you need to show evidence of having had a booster.

IF you are fully vaccinated you can enter the mainland and Madeira without testing. Your second jab must be between 114 and 270 days before arrival. If not fully vaccinated, or aged 12-18, you need proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry or a lateral flow taken 24 hours before. No limits on under-11s. All must fill in a passenger locator form.

Spain

Over-18s can enter without a test if fully vaccinated but if your second jab was more than nine months pre-trip, you need proof of a booster

TEENS who have not had two jabs can enter with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival in Spain. Over-18s can enter without a test if fully vaccinated but if your second jab was more than nine months pre-trip, you need proof of a booster. Unvaccinated can travel for certain vital reasons. All must fill in a form 48 hours pre-departure to generate a QR code.

USA

NO entry for unvaccinated adult tourists. Fully vaccinated adults must show a negative lateral flow or PCR test taken no more than one day before travel, or show proof of recovery from Covid within the past three months. Under-18s who are not fully vaccinated must take a test three to five days after arrival. Other restrictions vary between states.
