Two of the seven, burnt in a fire originating from a gas cylinder in Narayanganj yesterday, died at a Dhaka hospital today.
Alam (40) passed away at 12:30am and Jazz Mia (40) breathed his last at 8:00am while being treated at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Alam sustained cent percent burns and Jazz 80 percent burns, said Partha Sanker Paul, resident surgeon of the institute.
Four other injured — Hasina Momtaz (47), Asma Begum (45), Sathi Akter (23) and her six-year-old daughter Hafsa Akter — are being treated at the hospital.
Another injured took first aid yesterday.
Jazz Mia’s brother Nazmul Hasan said a local truck owner Abdul Baten carried gas cylinder of his truck near their residence in Aliganj area of Fatullah.
Baten was releasing gas from the cylinder when Alam was smoking nearby. The fire originated as the cigarette thrown by Alam came in contact with the emitted gas and spread to nearby houses, Nazmul said.
