COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A popular sports bar and grill in Brazos County is closed until further notice following a fire that caused significant damage to the building shortly after it closed at midnight.
Just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, the fire was reported at Smitty K’s Sports Bar and Grill on Highway 30 near Bird Pond Road in Brazos County.
At 12:38 a.m. a witness noticed smoke pouring out of the windows and called 911, according to Brazos County Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department radio scanner traffic.
Management tells KBTX’s Rusty Surette that it appears the fire started in the kitchen but the exact cause is unclear. They closed at midnight and they’re thankful nobody was injured in the fire.
Smitty K’s shared the following statement:
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the loss of our business due to a fire in the building. We are very thankful and blessed nobody was injured. We would like to thank both Bryan and College Station Fire Departments, as well as the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department for responding so quickly. We will be closed until further notice.
