46 Entertainment prepares for The Sound Amphitheater grand opening

GAUTIER, Miss. (WLOX) – The countdown to the grand opening of The Sound Amphitheater in Gautier is nearing its end.

Promoters and event services are preparing the final touches to the venue for thousands to fill the space.

“Not only is there going to be up to 7,000 people here tomorrow that are eating in hotels, there’s also a lot of stuff behind the scenes,” said 46 Entertainment owner Nathan Baugh.

As Baugh scans the scene of the newly-built amphitheater, crews examine lights, sound systems and TV screens less than 24 hours before KC and The Sunshine Band take the stage.

“[We’re making] sure we’ve prepared, and we’ve got guest services, staff, and concessions, production training and re-training today,” explains Baugh. “Adding in consumer support people just to make sure we are addressing any issues tomorrow.”

Baugh also credits businesses that have the opportunity to promote merchandise to concertgoers.

“There’s vendors, there’s production vendors, there’s food vendors, there’s tent vendors, there’s drink vendors all from this region that all get to win locally,” he adds. “Obviously, there’s sales tax and economic impact from just consumers even behind the scenes and on stage. There’s vendors in our region that know how to produce an A-level experience to align with what we’re doing with artists.”

Following the opening concert, the experience at The Sound is one that Baugh expects to continue to grow.
