Chris Cuomo Fired By CNN Following Allegations Of Sexual Harassment

Chris Cuomo reportedly faced an accusation of sexual harassment days before his firing by CNN.

The 51-year-old presenter worked at the network since 2013, becoming one of their most popular hosts. Last week it was announced that CNN was suspending Cuomo after documents were released suggesting that he was helping his elder brother, Andrew Cuomo, who is embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal.

While an investigation into the documents was underway, The New York Times reports that a prominent lawyer named Debra S. Katz came forward with an allegation against the younger Cuomo. The allegation – relating to one of Katz’s clients – was shared with CNN on Wednesday. News of Cuomo’s firing was announced on Saturday (November 4).

In response to queries over the allegation, a CNN spokesperson stated: “Based on the report we received regarding Chris’s conduct with his brother’s defence, we had cause to terminate. When new allegations came to us this week, we took them seriously, and saw no reason to delay taking immediate action.”

A representative for Cuomo, Steven Goldberg, stated that the allegations “are not true”.

Taking to Twitter to respond to news of his firing, Cuomo said, “This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother.”
