Genie In A Bottle singer Christina Aguilera has been given People’s Choice Awards first ever Music Icon award.
Xtina recreated one of her most iconic looks for the acceptance, first seen in the Dirrrty music video.
She got her foot in the door in the industry as a member of Micky Mouse’s Clubhouse, alongside Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
When accepting the Music Icon award, she said: “I have always strived for my music to communicate messages of empowerment, whether it’s speaking my own truths or giving voice to those unable to do so on their own.”
“My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.”
Xtina’s credentials are quite impressive, with her selling over 75 million records worldwide, and Billboard have recognised her as the 20th best selling artist of the 2000’s.
