Denis Villeneuve To Be Honoured By Advanced Imaging Society

Denis Villeneuve is to be bestowed the Harold Lloyd Award from the Advanced Imaging Society.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed filmmaker will receive the prestigious accolade during the 12th awards ceremony on February 1, 2022, at Warner Bros. Studios.

The Harold Lloyd Award is given in recognition of filmmaking which has utilised technology as a powerful storytelling tool. Some of its previous recipients include Martin Scorsese, Victoria Alonso, James Cameron, and James Mangold.

“In his more than 200 films, Harold Lloyd was passionate about using his creative teams the latest technology to empower his storytelling in the service of entertaining his millions of fans,” stated Harold Lloyd Entertainment chairman, Suzanne Lloyd.

“He was a cheerleader for the groundbreaking directors and creatives who followed him. I know Harold would simply be thrilled that Denis Villeneuve is our 2022 recipient.”

Villeneuve is currently celebrating the success of his most recent feature, Dune. The sci-fi film, which released in cinemas in October, has received widespread praise from fans and critics, particularly for its impressive visuals. A sequel is already in development.

Among the 54-year-old’s other major titles are Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049.
