Gillian Anderson And More Join Scott Cooper’s ‘The Pale Blue Eye’

Gillian Anderson has joined the cast of Scott Cooper’s upcoming Netflix picture, The Pale Blue Eye.

According to Deadline, Anderson is joined by an extensive list of new additions, including Lucy Boynton, Timothy Spall, Fred Hechinger, Robert Duvall, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Joey Brooks, Brennan Keel Cook, Gideon Glick, Matt Helm, Steven Maier and Charlie Tahan.

Helmed by Cooper, the new thriller focuses on a detective and young cadet, later known as Edgar Allan Poe, who begin to investigate a series of murders that took place in 1830 at the US Military Academy in West Point. The story is based on a book by Louis Bayard, published in 2006.

Christian Bale stars as the leading detective, while Harry Melling will portray Allan Poe.

Both Bale and Cooper are serving as producers on the project, alongside John Lester and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures. The pair have previously collaborated on titles including Hostiles and Out of the Furnace.

Gillian Anderson is best known for her breakout role as Dana Scully in The X-Files. Her other notable roles include playing Margaret Thatcher in The Crown, for which she won a Golden Globe and Emmy Award. She has also featured in Sex Education, The Fall, Hannibal and American Gods.
