Nia Jax Says Dwayne Johnson Did Not Support Her After WWE Release

Nia Jax was among the names of female wrestlers who were let go by WWE at the end of 2021 and, in the aftermath, received no support from her family.

She comes from a long line of professional wresters, boasting the likes of TaminaRoman Reigns and cousin Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, as familial links to the industry.

But after being cut by WWE, Jax revealed one the podcast Oral Sessions with Renee Raquetteshe that she has not received any support from her family.

Nia, real name Savelina Fanene, said: “It was like ‘Oh, she’s not going to lose her job because she’s related to [The] Rock‘.

“You’ve got everybody under the sun ripping me to shreds with all that. It’s funny because it’s so far from the truth. Whatever family members they thought supported me, were opposite, did not have my back.”

Jax continued: “Trust me, I did not have any support with me in this business for a long time.”

“It sucks because you’re family and it is what it is,” she said. “I didn’t mind it too much because I thought I was creating something on my own. It’s fine if you don’t want to have my back or support me.”

She does, however, say that she will “always pay homage to the family, we have an insane and incredible lineage. That legacy will [live] on forever.”
