Nike Announces Investment In WNBA

Sports brand Nike has announced that it has made an investment in the WNBA

Nike has been kitting out WNBA players since 2018 and even penned a 25-year commitment with the league, but this investment takes it one step further.

“Women’s sport is one of the best investments, with great potential to impact and grow the next era of basketball,” said Sonja Henning, VP, NA Leagues Partnerships at Nike.

Nike has always been more than a sponsor with the WNBA – we’re a strategic partner,” she adds. “And we’re proud to be part of a movement that is redefining for a new generation – for WNBA players, fans, and girls.”

The investment will see Nike bring to life more WNBA stories as give athletes more visibility as it continues to grow.

New York Liberty point guard, Sabrina Ionescu, praised the brand for its commitment to the WNBA.

“One of the reasons I joined the Nike family was our shared commitment to growing the game and creating impact that’s even bigger than basketball,” she said.

“What excites me most about Nike’s expanded partnership with the WNBA is the chance to inspire future generations and help move the world forward through sport.”
