Opinion: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Film Review

The excitement for the release was getting bigger and bigger for Spider-Man: No Way Home after each trailer and now the wait is over as it has arrived in cinemas worldwide.

Spoilers ahead.

Fans were expecting Jon Watts and his directing talent, which was also seen in the other two Spider-Man movies, as well as Tom Holland’s acting skills. However with this release, in my opinion, there were elements which took things to the next level.

One of the reasons why this perhaps represents one of the best Marvel films, if not the best for me, is portrayed by the exceptional performances from the whole cast, with the focus being on actors such as Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx and their portrayal of MCU villains.

With the popularity of Marvel superheroes, it is difficult to ever sympathise with the villains who make an appearance on screen. Nonetheless, in this film, fans get to see a completely different depth of each character which was never explored in the prior Spider-Man films.

With the worldwide admiration gained by Marvel, as well as the fame of Spider-Man’s character, it was not so hard to convince an audience to watch the film in theatres, however meeting fans expectations will become more and more difficult considering the large number of films released and set to be released in the future by Marvel Studios.

The inclusion of Doctor Strange demonstrates to the audience how young Peter Parker is and how due to his youth, he is very different from a lot of the Avengers.

This of course adds depth to his character, as we are able to see that despite having so much responsibility, deep down Parker is just a child who wants for him and his friends to enter college.

One scene found in the movie which portrays his playful personality was one which sees Spider-Man use a math equation to escape a desperate situation when trying to save the villains and their fate.

The new film takes Spider-Man and his character on a new part of his journey, and it is not one to be missed. The roller coaster of emotions, the travelling from compassion for all the things Peter Parker is facing, to the humour brought by him and his counterparts, will not leave you disappointed when you leave the theatre.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is not about the popularity of Tom Holland or Zendaya, it is a film which managed to capture the excitement of three different generations in ways not a lot of previous Marvel films were able to, which again represents another reason why this movie manages to stand out much more.
