Trinity Rodman Makes History With New Washington Spirit Contract

After a breakout season to remember, Trinity Rodman has been rewarded with a lucrative new contract.

Joining the Washington Spirit as a rookie, Rodman lead them to NWSL glory with a title winning campaign with seven goals and seven assists across the season.

Her emergence earned Rookie of the Year and U.S. Soccer’s Young Player of the Year awards.

Such form also prompted a well-earned call up to the senior national team.

A pivotal role in their league success pushed the Spirit to revise Rodman’s current contract, and sign her to a long-term deal that is reportedly the “richest package in NWSL history”.

The deal is worth over $1.1 million, a testament to the value she holds for Spirit.

This week has seen the NWSL Players Association ratify the first-ever Collective Bargaining Agreement in the league’s history.

It will see a major increase to annual salary, helping players to earn a liveable wage when commitment their future to the NWSL.

“Players will report to preseason camp tomorrow with the safety, security, and protections of a collectively bargained contract that sets NWSL on a positive trajectory for the future,” they said in a statement.
