After flying high against Westmont on Monday, Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park came back down to earth. Like Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park, Thornton Fractional North also got a great game from a two-way player: Jimena Jimenez. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up eight earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Jimenez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Thornton Fractional North got a big performance out of Stephanie Montiel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Alayna Cain-Brown was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park’s defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Thornton Fractional North, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6.
Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park will take on Curie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thornton Fractional North, they will head out on the road to take on Oak Lawn at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
