Midland Harmony Science Academy announces official school mascot ahead of groundbreaking

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Harmony Public Schools have announced an official mascot and released the logo for Midland’s first Harmony Science Academy campus.

Harmony Public School said they chose the Bobcats because the animal is native to the West Texas region and stated that the Bobcat has “attributes of independence, intelligence, resourcefulness, and tenacity.”

The Harmony Science Academy of Midland is expected to open in the Fall of 2024, in a temporary space while construction begins for a permanent school facility. The groundbreaking for the facility is scheduled for April 22 and the grand opening is predicted to happen by Fall of 2025. 

The elementary school will be the first Harmony school in Midland County and the second campus in the Permian Basin Area. The campus will be located at 2501 E. Loop 250 N. Midland, Texas 79705.

“This expansion underscores our commitment to providing quality education options for families in Midland,” said Harmony Public Schools West Texas District Area Superintendent, Dr. Kamil Yilmaz

Harmony Public Schools West Texas District is said to provide an education for students from PreK to 12th grade, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
