Jonesboro A&P Commission provides update on sports complex

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission held a meeting on Thursday to discuss updates on the forthcoming sports complex.

This comes after the cost summary for the complex was released in January.

According to the meeting, the completed sports complex is set to feature the following:

  • Full-service kitchen, with serving area and sit-down cafeteria
  • 12 Basketball courts, four located in the Events Center
  • 24 Volleyball courts, eight located in the Events Center
  • 36 Pickleball courts, 12 located in the Events Center
  • 32,000 square-foot convention center

The Natatorium will feature the following:

  • 25-yard cross course, with 22 lanes
  • 1-meter and 3-meter diving
  • Warm-up pool with 8 lanes, zero feet to 5 feet

Discussed in the meeting was the alternative packaging, which will allow for parts of the complex to be priced separately, so if costs exceed the budget, certain parts can be removed.

Those items being priced separately are listed below:

  • 32,000 square-foot events and convention center
  • Indoor walking track
  • Outdoor spray ground and water features

The current pricing of the complex is listed below:

  • Building and General Construction: $66,676,372
  • Architect/Engineering: $4,389,239
  • FFE and Procurement: 6,259,764
  • Total prospective pricing: $77,325,375

While these are estimates, the final pricing is expected to be available in June or July.
