Charli XCX Taking A Break From Social Media For Mental Health Reasons

Charli XCX is taking a break from social media for mental health reasons after facing criticism for her recent NFT venture.

The singer-songwriter issued a statement on Thursday, to explain that she’s temporarily stepping back from Twitter due to the negativity she has been receiving on the platform.

“I’ve always had a pretty open dialogue with you guys and so I just wanna mention a few things that have been on my mind recently,” Charli wrote.

“I have been feeling like I can’t do anything right at the moment. I know social media isn’t exactly a haven for kindness and positivity but generally speaking I always felt pretty safe with you guys on here.”

She continued: “I’ve noticed lately that a few people seem quite angry at me – for the choices of songs I’ve chosen to release, for the way I’ve decided to roll out my campaign, for the things I need to do to fund what will be the greatest tour I’ve ever done, for things I say, things I do, etc.

The singer went on to say that she will be drafting tweets in the future for her management to post rather then doing them herself.

As The Fader reports, Charli faced criticism earlier this week after it was announced that she would be performing at the Las Vegas Afterparty event, which requires attended to own one of 1,500 “Utopian” NFTs.
