David Dastmalchian has joined the cast of 20th Century Studios new picture, Boston Strangler.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dastmalchian has been cast in an unspecified but pivotal role. He joins an ensemble that includes the likes of Keira Knightley, Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola and Chris Cooper.

Helmed by Matt Ruskin, the film will depict the string of murders that haunted Boston between 1962 and 1964.

The film focuses on the reporter who first covered the murders, Loretta McLaughlin (Knightley), and her pursuit to uncover the truth despite misogyny, corruption and great personal risk.

Dastmalchian is best known for his recent role in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, in which he portrayed Polka-Dot Man. He has also enjoyed more minor roles in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 and Dune.

Production on Boston Strangler is touted to begin next month in Boston.
