Four Men Arrested In Relation To Overdose Death Of Michael K Williams

Authorities have reportedly arrested four men in relation to the death of The Wire actor Michael K Williams.

Williams was discovered dead by family members inside his apartment in Brooklyn, New York last September.

A medical examiner later ruled that the 54-year-old had died as a result of an accidental overdose using drugs laced with fentanyl.

Now, according to The Guardian, a federal prosecutor has confirmed that four men were charged in connection to the death on Tuesday.

Of the four suspects, Irvin Cartagena – who was arrested in Puerto Rico – is charged with directly causing the actor’s death after surveillance footage appeared to show Cartagena dealing the deadly drugs to Williams.

The other suspects, named Hector Robles, Luis Cruz and Carlos Macci, are charged as alleged co-conspirators.

Michael K Williams, a prominent actor and producer, tragically overdosed in his New York City apartment from fentanyl-laced heroin,” stated US Attorney Damian Williams.

“Today, along with our law enforcement partners at the NYPD, we announce the arrests of members of a drug crew, including Irvin Cartagena, the man who we allege sold the deadly dose of drugs to Michael K Williams.” He continued, “This is a public health crisis. And it has to stop.”

The suspects reportedly continued to sell fentanyl-laced heroin during the daytime, despite knowing that Williams had died from their product.
