Kaitlin Olson shares that the shows characters will never evolve as people.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia follows a group of narcissistic friends who own an Irish pub, Paddy’s Pub, that often engage in strange, disturbing and shocking activities and find themselves in hilarious situations.
The Gang consists of Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton), Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds (Olson), Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day), Ronald “Mac” McDonald (Rob McElhenney), and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito).
In an interview with E! News, Kaitlin has shared that, no matter how much humiliation the characters endure, they will never change.
“We want them to sort of never learn their lesson and grow and be better people,” she says.
“It’s kind of one of the things that’s funniest to me about my character in particular because why would this person continue to try and impress these guys and be friends with them and want their approval after all this time?”
“She’s just trying to prove herself to them and has been for 15 years. That’s completely ridiculous.”
The show has become the longest-running live-action comedy series in American TV history as it currently airs its 15th season.
