NBA Honour Late Kobe Bryant With Redesigned All-Star Trophy

The NBA has unveiled an all-star game trophy in honour of the late Kobe Bryant

Bryant, along with 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other passengers, were killed in a fatal helicopter crash in early 2020.

Two years on from his death, the NBA have honoured his lasting basketball ball legacy by redesigning the all-star trophy.

The award will be handed out to the most valuable player of the game, set to take place later this month.

Working with Victor Solomon, the league worked on a design that would honour his impact on the game.

“His presence, innovation and his boldness needed to be represented in the trophy,” Solomon said.

It has an eight-sided base; a nod to his infamous eight jersey and an a tribute to his All-Star appearances.

Solomon told CNBC: “It was very serendipitous that once we started moving down the road in this creative direction for it, there were some really poignant story moments that originally came out of it.”

Top NBA players across the country will come together on February 20 for the All-Star game, held in Cleveland.
