Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed On Behalf Of Drakeo The Ruler’s Son

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Drakeo the Ruler’s 5-year-old son, Caiden Caldwell.

The rapper tragically died following a stabbing at the Once Upon A Time In LA Festival on December 18. An investigation into the case is ongoing.

According to Pitchfork, the lawsuit was made by Caiden’s mother Tianna Purtue at a court in LA on February 2.

A number of defendants were cited in the suit including Live Nation, C3 Presents, Bobby Dee Presents, Jeff Shuman, and the Los Angeles Football Club.

The suit claims that the listed parties “were completely knowledgeable” about the potential danger present on the night of the killing due to past incidents of violence at their events. Astroworld was specifically referred to as an example in the filing.

In addition, the suit states that promoters “should have known” about Drakeo’s “very public feud” with the Bloods gang after his acquittal for the murder of one of their members.

The filing concludes that the death of Drakeo could have been prevented if the defendants “placed the safety and wellbeing of its guests and artists ahead of its profits.”

“There would have been an adequate security plan and sufficient security guards and law enforcement presence to have prevented the unnecessary and untimely murder of Drakeo the Ruler at the hands of over 100 deadly gang members who inexplicably gained access to a restricted area of the venue engaging in an unrelenting and unprevented attack for over 10 minutes.”

Caiden is seeking $25 million or more in non-economic damages for life without his father, $25 million or more in economic damages for loss of earnings and financial support, $10 million for Drakeo’s suffering, and an additional sum to cover damages and expenses.
