Three people, including the driver, were injured when an oxygen cylinder in an ambulance exploded at Sharankhola in Bagerhat. There were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the blast. The accident took place in Rayenda-Mashua ferry area of the upazila on Friday night.
The injured people are the driver of the ambulance. Mamun, said the driver’s assistant. Milon and Md. A pedestrian named Shimul Tarafdar. The burnt driver and his assistant were admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex and later to the burn unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital. And Shimul has returned home with first aid.
Witnesses said the car was essentially a microbus, although it was an ambulance. The car was moving like an ambulance by removing the rear wheels of the driver. A patient was going to take it at the time of the incident. The oxygen cylinder in the car on the way exploded.
Sharankhola police officer in charge (OC) said. Saidur Rahman said that the ambulance was going to bring the patient after getting a call to go to Khulna. The accident happened on the way.
Injured ambulance driver said. Mamun told Prothom Alo: So I was taking an ambulance. When I reached the patient’s house, I was unloading the cylinder to go to his house. Then the explosion happened.
Sharankhola Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Farida Yasmin said, “The three burn victims have been given first aid. Both hands of the three were slightly burnt. Another had a minor head injury. We sent them to Khulna Medical College Hospital with first aid.
In Chittagong’s Karnafuli, wild elephants entered the locality and ransacked the homes of five families. The incident took place in Ward No. 8 of Barauthan Union of the upazila on Saturday morning. Besides, wild elephants broke into the houses of two workers of Chanpur-Bailgaon tea garden in Banshkhali last night.

Sajjad Khan, a member of Ward 7 of Barauthan Union, told Prothom Alo, “An elephant came to the locality and smashed everything of five families. We have become extremely helpless because of the wild elephants. ‘
Karnafuli Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahina Sultana said the forest department has been informed about the loss of wild elephants in the locality.
Meanwhile, a wild elephant broke the house of two workers of Chanpur-Bailgaon tea garden in Banshkhali upazila last night. The incident spread panic among more than seven hundred workers, said the manager of the tea garden. Abul Bashar.
