Police have sent two youths to jail in a case of rape of a 12-year-old madrasa student and a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Satkania, Chittagong. After being arrested from their respective homes on Friday night, they were sent to Chittagong District Jail through the court on Saturday afternoon.
The two are Mezbah Uddin alias Kalu (20) of Tudirbari area of Aochia union of the upazila and Mohammad of Bakshirkhil area of Kanchana union. Alamgir (19).
Satkania Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Jalil told Prothom Alo that the two students were admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. One of their relatives has filed a case with the police station alleging rape. Shortly after the case was registered, two youths named Mezbah Uddin and Alamgir were arrested in a raid late last night. Later this afternoon, the two youths were sent to jail through the court.
According to the police and case statement, the aunt of the 12-year-old madrasa student is the 14-year-old schoolgirl. Last Monday morning, the madrasa student went to visit Aochia’s grandfather’s house with her parents. In the afternoon, the aunt and niece went to a local shop to buy betel nut. Even after a long time, they did not return home and kept looking for relatives in different places. The matter was reported to the local people’s representative without finding them anywhere. They were returning from Talipahar area of Alinagar in Aochia crying at around 11 am the next day. At that time the relatives saw them and rescued them and brought them home.
The statement further said that after coming home, the two students informed their relatives that they were returning home after buying betel leaves at around 5.30 pm on Monday. When they reached the Pukurpar area of Lambinama, two youths named Mezbah Uddin and Alamgir forcibly picked them up in a CNG-powered autorickshaw and took them to the secluded area of Talipahar in Alinagar. There, the two young men raped them more than once.

The attack took place in Brahmandanga village of Noagram union of the upazila around 11:30 am on Saturday. Taizul Islam (48) is the son of Abul Hossain Mollah of Brahmandanga village. He is a retired Army member. He is the president of Awami League, Ward No. 8 of Noagram Union.
According to police and locals, Taizul Islam has his own fish farm in Brahmandanga Khalpara area. When he went there around 11:30 pm on Saturday, his opponents hacked him and injured him. He was taken to Narail Sadar Hospital in critical condition. After that his condition deteriorated and he was admitted to a private hospital in Khulna. His head and body were randomly cut.
Narail Sadar Hospital emergency department doctor. Mizanur Rahman said that Taizul Islam does not have complete knowledge. His body injuries are serious. The situation is alarming. It is therefore advisable to take it elsewhere for advanced treatment. His relatives took him to Khulna.
